Portable Metal Detector

Control, Diagnostics and Monitoring Systems and Instruments

PORTATIVE METALLODECTOR

Developer: Head Lab. IIS, Ph.D., Bryakin I.V.

Purpose of development.

Magnetic detection of subsurface objects for various purposes to ensure the safety of operation of technical structures and increase the level of efficiency of rescue operations.

A brief description of the development.

At present, in case of natural and man-made disasters, the problem of detecting and identifying physical objects for various purposes, such as water supply and gas pipelines, heating networks, electric cables and underground cable structures (tunnels, canals, cable mines, collectors, blocks), which are relatively small in size, commensurate with the depth of their underground presence, which creates additional technical difficulties in their search and identification.

Therefore, the task of creating technical means of detecting such objects remains relevant, allowing emergency services to timely and effectively perform their work to rescue victims and eliminate the harmful consequences of various disasters.

At present, various types of metal detectors have been widely used to solve the above problems. However, existing metal detectors have certain limitations on the depth of sensing and selectivity of objects, which does not allow to fully solve the problem of detecting and identifying subsurface metal objects. In this regard, there is a need to develop and create hardware for the detection and identification of subsurface metal objects, allowing to solve the considered detection tasks in accordance with modern requirements and at the necessary technical level.

The schematic solution of the portable metal detector is based on a new principle of constructing a ferrosond magnetometer, focused on measuring the perturbations of the Earth’s natural field and measuring the gradients of generated or induced magnetic fields.

Scope of development.

Designed to search for objects (objects) made of metal, installed in the ground, snow or under water. It is used in the operation, repair and construction of technical facilities for various purposes, as well as in the conduct of emergency rescue operations to solve specific tasks related to the operational detection and accurate determination of the location of various types of subsurface non-interacting ferromagnetic facilities for technical purposes (urban underground communications, intercity cable lines, water supply and gas supply pipelines, heating networks, etc.).

Technical characteristics of the development.
