The Laboratory of Monitoring and Assessment of Geotechnical Risks (MOGR) was organized in 1992 on the basis of the Department of Scientific Instrumentation of the Institute of Physics and Mechanics of Rocks (IFIMGP), which existed since 1976.
Since 1992, the laboratory has been headed by And. A. Torgoyev.

Key results and achievements
The regularities of the spread and development of landslide processes in various regions of Kyrgyzstan are established.
Assessment of the risk of technogenic pressure on glaciers and the cryolithozone of the Tien Shan at the Kumtor mine.
Methodical recommendations for monitoring landslide processes and assessing multi-risks for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State Committee for Geology of the Kyrgyz Republic have been developed.
Risk assessments of dangerous geological processes during the construction of hydropower facilities in the basins of the Naryn and Saryjaz rivers were carried out.
